Merry Christmas!
December 24, 2008Well it’s Christmas Eve, and as I was passing by our tree I glanced over at it…remembering all the memories growing up and celebrating the holiday with my family. Christmas is one of my favorite holidays. I thought I would snap a few photos of our tree and one ornament in particular.
You see this ornament has special meaning to me, my Mom made it when I was nearly 4…as a matter of fact she made a whole load of them.
As many of us have experienced in our childhoods, my family didn’t have much money growing up, and during this particular year my Mom decided to save all of our Tylenol medicine cups and gathered them from family and friends too. She had plans for them (my Mom was/is very creative:)). Well those little cups were to become ornaments for our tree…simply because there wasn’t enough money to justify buying any ornaments for our tree.
So my Mom over a period of days created these “Bell” ornaments out of the cups. Each bundle of 3 Bells (one bell for me, one for my sister, and one for my brother) was tied with little red yarn and sprinkled with gold glitter. My Mom managed to completely fill our tree with them that year! I have faint memories of our tree on Curlew Connex, in Knightsen, CA filled with the “Bells” my Mom made us that year.
When I moved out of my parents house and had my first Christmas tree on my own, my Mom & Dad gave me some ornaments to start off with, one of the ornaments was a set of the “Bells”, they have hung on every Christmas tree I have ever had in my life, and they will continue to Christmas after Christmas…
I hope all of you have moments of those sweet memories as a child, and I wish you all many more happy memories this Christmas! Thank you for allowing me to capture your moments on camera this year! Merry Chritsmas!
To my Mom & Dad, I love you dearly, thank you for all of the beautiful memories! Merry Christmas Mom & Dad!
To my beautiful love Kenny, my husband…(our first Christmas as husband & wife)…thank you for loving me each and every day, I love you! Merry Christmas!
