A couple of weeks ago, we get a phone call at the studio…it’s Tracy (Cody’s Mom) and she is a little upset…not with us…but with her son’s New Waverly HS senior picture that he brought home. She was very displeased with how they turned out…and unfortunately I’m not surprised. I have had this conversation with so many parents and graduates recently it’s crazy. Sadly senior pictures from school have certainly not progressed much with the times since I was a graduate, and because of this exact reason is why we offer the option to have a Lifestyle Senior Portrait session done. I mean really who wears those fury shoulder bits and what graduating senior guy do you see wearing a suit?…come on, those are not who these young adults are.

Well, last week Cody came in and met with us to talk a little about what he wanted out of his session, and I have to say very happily…I think we nailed it on the head with his session! This young man is graduating in June, he loves football, and has some pretty good skills with the rope…take a look below and you’ll see what I mean.

Saturday we headed out to some friends property in the country (thank you to the Riley’s for allowing us to tromp through your landscape, and for the fun ride in the mule! ;). We were so lucky to have amazing weather, even if we had to battle the mosquito’s, but all in all I think it was worth it (I’m still itching from those little buggers!)The light was perfect and warm, the temps nice and fall like…just perfect for shooting.

Cody, we had a great time with you and your Mom, and we hope you love your photos as much as we loved taking them! We wish you tons of success in your future!

Much appreciation

Janell & John – E-Session

A little more than two years ago Janell and John were introduced to each other by a mutual friend. They both share a passion for food & cooking, spontaneous road trips, old classic movies and their 4 dogs…yes FOUR, Gus, Piper, Potter & Howdy.
We first met Janell at the Brazos Valley Bridal Association’s Fall Show this past September, we chatted briefly and she said she would email us. Not long after the show we heard from Janell, and made arrangements for us to all meet and discuss their wedding plans. Janell & John are getting married next June at Astin Mansion (we cannot wait to shoot at this venue!), so we decided to shoot their engagement session early so they could use one of the engagement photos to send out their “Save the Date” cards to their friends & family.
John had mentioned wanting to do engagement photos in a little sleepy town just north of Bryan, TXCalvert, home to some absolutely divine chocolate from CocoaModa. We met the owner Ken Wilkinson, of CocoaModa while waiting for Janell & John to meet up with us, and chatted with him for a bit and asked him if he knew of some spots in town that would make for some great backdrops. He recommended a few spots, and then we headed off… Now, these two crazy love birds were a blast, at first when we got going I had to rapid fire to catch a shot without them talking, because they were so chatty, and giggly…but I finally just gave into the cuteness of it, because it’s who they are! We captured some fun moments, and laughed nearly the entire time with them! Janell & John, I’m glad we decided to forgo the cemetery ;)

We had a fantastic time with you, and we cannot wait to shoot your wedding!

Much love & appreciation…
